Riesling Spätlese Lenchen 2010

External Review by Astor Wines & Spirits:

“Passionate about terroir,” is a phrase bandied about frequently in wine circles these here, Kühn absolutely embodies this phrase. The Quartzit is so named because he selected only Riesling from vines with roots in contact with veins of quartz running through his Doosberg vineyards. The fruit ripens well in this cooler climate due to a gentle, constant wind and is protected from damp and mold. The juice from this pristine fruit is stored in a wooden vat, maturing on its lees for over 5 months and lightly filtered just before bottling. Vibrant on the palate, heightened by aromas and flavors of smoke and minerals, effectively displaying the earthy mineral side of Riesling. Allow the wine to open before service. Pairs exceptionally well with oysters, clams and anything of a salty, briny nature.
