Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

Rating: 89/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the September 2010 issue. Keenly defined pure Riesling fruit is the centerpiece of this very bright, slightly sweet offering, and touches of stones and fresh flowers afford the wine with a bit of real complexity. Still very young-seeming and quite long on the palate, this is one that is sure to keep well, and it should develop nicely for several years providing that its immediate charms can be resisted.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Further bottle aging can improve this wine.

Greenish straw. Moderately light-bodied. Moderate acidity. Mild fruit. Mild sweetness. Leaves, minerals, bitter oranges. Bold acids enhance piquant fruit with a warm, lingering finish. Needs some time in the glass to blossom fully.

Lively and generous, with a tangy apple, apricot and mineral character that dances on and on as the flavors linger. Wallet-friendly Washington white. Drink now through 2005.

This refreshing, off-dry wine has wonderful aromas of ripe apricot and melon, and forward flavors of apricots, peaches and pears that last through a velvety finish.

Light and tangy, just a little sweet, with pretty peach and floral flavors lingering on the delicate finish. Drink now.

Riesling, a late ripening variety, thirves in Washington's cool winters and warm, dry summers. At optimum ripeness it develops a trademark apricot, tangerine, citrus and kiwi flavors with vanilla, clove and cinnamon complexities. Its balanced acidity keeps the finish crisp and lingering. It's flavorful enough to pair with blue cheese and complex enough to stand up to a spicy Thai meal.
