Riesling Hillside Collection 2010

Member Review by shsim:

This was part of Apple Hill, El Dorado, beginning at Grace Patriot wines and covering Lava Cap, Crystal Basin, Jack Russell Brewing, Boa Vista and Madroña in the same area. This was at Madroña. They served the reds before the whites and that kind of messed up the taste buds a little. Perhaps because of how Rieslings are, this had more flavor, with dry plum and medium body. Paul Bush manages the vineyards himself, adding to the family’s knowledge of grape varieties, clones within a variety, and microclimates. “Intensive hands-on vineyard practices make wines that are frankly exceeding what we thought possible at these high elevations,” says Paul, “And we’re going to keep on improving over the next 30 years.” Madroña Vineyards is a member of the Apple Hill Wineries and the El Dorado Winery Association. We host and pour at many special events throughout the year. Read less
