The Dr. Loosen estate has been in the same family for over 200 years. The Dr. Loosen estate has been in the same family for over 200 years. When Ernst Loosen (pronounced loh-zen) assumed ownership in 1988, he realized that with ungrafted vines averaging 60 years old in some of Germany’s best-rated vineyards, he had the raw materials to create stunningly intense, world-class wines. To achieve this, Ernst dramatically reduced his crop size and stopped all chemical fertilization, preferring only moderate use of organic fertilizers. And, most importantly, he turned to gentler cellar practices that allow the wine to develop its full potential with a minimum of handling and technological meddling. Read less

Bright and golden, with aromas of stone fruit, green apple and minerals, richly viscous flavors of green melon & apple, with wet slate, persistent finish lets you enjoy this wine with trout or smoked salmon, cold chicken salad or Asian stir fry. I wanted to bite into the glass!

We just had a book club and the Riesling was a huge hit. Ripe green apple, soft peach and hint of pear shine through without overwhelming with sweetness. Love the idea of blue slate soil, but in truth I couldn't pick up that note other that the wine seemed drier to me than California Riesling's right off the shelf. I will be buying half a case for future book clubs where 11/12 of the population are of the female persuasion ;)

Lively lemon flavors, with the acids well balanced with sweetness. Good mouthfeel. Hints of minerals. Not a lot of complexity, but still very satisfying.

There's a spicy, tangy quality to this white, along with quince and anise. It's all underscored by a mineral element and a vibrant structure, with a fine, lingering aftertaste of stone and anise. Best from 2009 through 2022. 3,000 cases made."

91 Points - Wine Enthusiast"A terrific value in top-flight Riesling, this kabinett is named for a slate common in the middle Mosel and is ourced from a variety of Loosen's estate vineyards. Apple, cinnamon and slate notes are wonderfully interwoven in a wine that's creamy in texture without any accompanying heaviness. Finishes long and vibrant. "90 Points - Wine Spectator"There's a spicy, tangy quality to this white, along with quince and anise. It's all underscored by a mineral element and a vibrant structure, with a fine, lingering aftertaste of stone and anise. Best from 2009 through 2022. "
