Riesling Auslese Eitelsbacher Karthauserhofberg Karthauserhof 94 Jg Premier 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

"Of the sweeter wines in the Karthäuserhof cellars this year, this stunning Auslese was the finest that I sampled. The bouquet is deep, pure and really lovely, as it soars from the glass in a blaze of white cherries, apples, a touch of pineapple, great, crystalline minerality, honeycomb and a topnote of apple blossoms. On the palate the wine is fullish, deep and very intensely flavored, with beautiful focus and balance, a fine core of fruit, brisk acids and outstanding backend cut on the very long and dancing finish. A absolutely classic Auslese in the making...94" JG 04/12 "Given its Pradikat and the vintage’s prominence of botrytis, it’s a surprise to be greeted by distinctly alkaline and wet stone aromas from Tyrell’s 2010 Eitelsbacher Karthauserhofberg Riesling Auslese, and those features subsequently serve as a sort of sounding board for honey-laced, vanilla-tinged red currant preserves and pineapple on a buoyant and surprisingly firm and bright palate. This finishes with a delightful sense of transparency to and interactivity with mineral nuances and I suspect that not only will it remain delightful and fascinating for at least a quarter century it will also gain further complexity...92" WA 04/12
