Food Pairings for Ridge Zinfandel Paso Robles
Deep dark red color, but not much of a nose, at least yet. Strong and ripe Zin fruit, with lively acidity and some judicious oak influence. Medium finish, without a lot of bite. 88-89 points.
While not my favorite Ridge, this wine is well balanced with enough fruit to allow the acidic balancing to support a broad range of food pairings. We drink Paso with chicken as easily as beef - it's that drinkable. I agree that decanting this wine is vital and waiting a few years is preferable - if you can!
I really love Ridge. This wine also is excellent as well, but we should wait at least a couple of years for the maturity. But if you want to enjoy this wine now, I recommend you to decant the wine first and actually I did it.
Very smooth right out of the bottle with a perfect spice finish.
very well balanced, almost classic zin. spice, not overbearing fruit, brambly, very drinkable on day 1 and day 2 (vacuumed).
very enjoyable indeed. just look at my other reviews of this wine different years.
One of my favorite zins (and boy, do I love my zin) ... medium-bodied, well-balanced, notes of cherry and currant...warm with a smoothest finish that lingers like a good dream. I would have this every day if I could :)
External Reviews for Ridge Zinfandel Paso Robles
Ridge has bottled zin from the Benito Dusi Ranch — planted in 1922 on the warm, gravelly hills south of the town of Paso Robles — since the 1967 vintage. In 2012, it’s a red with both raw power and surprising detail, the aromas oscillating between cured meat, black spice and brighter floral tones. The fruit feels full to the point of bursting, yet there’s sophistication to the structure, the tannins fine and mineral and alive — speaking to a resonant match of variety, site and soil amplified by vine age. It’s utterly Californian, a grand and sunny red to open when you’ve got a good enough reason to roast a whole lamb.
An old-school style, this is briary and full of zesty fruit, with aromas of bright cherry, grilled herb and fresh earth leading to smoky plum and cracked pepper flavors that linger toward ripe tannins. Drink now through 2020.
A Zinfandel wine from California in USA. 2011 Ridge Zinfandel Paso Robles 750ml
The 2010 Zinfandel Paso Robles Benito Dusi Ranch wraps around the palate with soft, lush fruit. This is distinctly Paso in its opulent, generous personality. Dark red cherries, flowers and spices flesh out on the finish. The Benito Dusi is delicious, but it stops just shy of being truly distinctive. On the plus side, it is more approachable than some of the other 2010s and should drink well upon release. Anticipated maturity: 2012–2018.
Offers appealing aromas of plum, licorice and underbrush that lead to concentrated flavors of smoky black cherry and spicy herbs. Shows nicely focused acid and tannin balance. Still young. Best from 2014 through 2018. 5,000 cases made. -TF Garnet/medium ruby. Cherry-rhubarb compote, crushed pepper, creamy oak. Bright fruit entry, elegant mid-palate, great fruit/tannin balance; lively acidity in a long finish. -Eric Baugher ** Only 17 in Stock **

Bright purple. Cherry and blackcurrant aromas are complemented by cracked pepper, mocha and musky herbs. Expressive and gently sweet on the palate, offering supple dark fruit flavors and a touch of bitter chocolate. Finishes on a sweet blackberry note, with very good breadth and gentle tannins.
