Love the combination of spice and berries. Awesome finish.
The 2004 Ponzo Zinfandel is a perfect Russian River blend. With a very dark ruby red hue and notes of berries, vanilla and spice, this is a wine that will get you hooked before even tasting it. It is smooth, like velvet, to the touch and leaves the taste of raspberries/blueberries/currants and slight spice lingering on the pallate. This is a very approachable full-bodied zinfandel.
I once sipped a wine so fine it never left my mind. I have yet to find that wine but this is my favorite of the Ridge family. I maybe pairing it wrong but it goes great with maytag blue cheese and berries.

91 Points - Robert Parker, Wine Advocate #165 An outstanding wine, the potent (14.9% alcohol) 2004 Zinfandel from the Russian River Valley Ponzo Vineyard exhibits a dark ruby/purple color along with notes of sweet vanilla (from new oak barrels), black raspberries, blueberries and currants. Velvety-textured, broad, rich, full-bodied and seductive. This venerable producer, with as fine a track record as any winery in the world, continues to turn out high quality Zinfandels. Kudos!
