Ridge Paso Robles Zinfandel Benito Dusi Ranch 2008
Medium ruby-red. Strawberry preserves, black cherry, coffee, mocha and a hint of pepper on the somewhat port-like nose. Concentrated and dense, with flavors of red berries and eucalyptus. Hints at less even ripening than the last couple of wines, despite the higher alcohol. I don't get the same impression of complexity or flavors development. Tannins are slightly astringent.Add winemaker's notes

The 1998 Dusi Ranch (the only 100% zinfandel offering tasted from Ridge) exhibits aromas of roasted peanuts and smoky, black cherry and currant fruit. There is good structure and delineation, a dense, rich, medium to full-bodied palate and a long, concentrated finish. Interestingly, the back label indicated this was the first time in over twenty-five years that the Dusi Ranch was harvested in October because of the extremely cold, wet spring.
Deep blackish ruby cast. Moderately full-bodied. Balanced acidity. Moderately extracted. Mildly oaked. Mildly tannic. Chocolate, black fruits. Somewhat reserved aromatically, but rich and flavorful on the palate. Amazingly lush, with a supple velvety texture. Quite well balanced should only gain in complexity with age.
Chocolate, smoke and coconut tones from toasty oak mesh nicely with flavors of plum and dried currants, underscored by modest tannins. Drink now through 2005.
Raspberry-blackberry jam with a kick. The high glycerine and alcohol levels in this wine, combined with the massive fruit extract, make it seem almost sweet, despite its modest .5% residual sugar. Drink now and over the next couple of years.
Very dark and ripe, with rich, complex layers of plum, black cherry, wild berry, tar and cedar, finishing with smooth, supple tannins. Drink now through 2002.
Complex and zesty, offering a distinctive sense of place. Lively wild raspberry and spicy dill aromas open to crisp, layered and supple stewed plum, licorice and coconut-tinged oak flavors. The tannins are appealingly rustic. Drink now through 2014.
