Ridge Monte Bello 2007
94 points Josh Raynolds (International Wine Cellar): 79% cabernet sauvignon, 10% merlot, 9% petit verdot and 2% cabernet franc) Opaque ruby. A complex, heady bouquet displays red- and blackcurrant, pipe tobacco, cigar box and rose oil, with suave spiciness gaining strength in the glass. Sappy and sweet, with mineral-laced red and dark berry preserve and cherry-vanilla flavors complemented by smoke and floral pastille qualities. The finish shows sweetness as well as tanginess and leaves a gentle smoky quality behind. Quite open-knit for Monte Bello but there's a core of minerality and sneaky acidity here that bodes well for aging. (Nov/Dec 2010)

Ruby-red color that leaves legs down the side of the glass. Smells like fruity yet caramel and earth tones too. Nice oak that lingers. I would buy this again. i only paid $7!
Huge fruity cab, rivaling some of the California greats I've had that are between 3 and 5 times the price. Great spice up front but finishes with an incredible balance. Still can't believe this cost me ten bucks.
Lovely nose of roasted earth, rich red berry and some plum and blackberry. Flavors of sweet blackberry, black cherry, loamy earth, hints of spice box and cigar tobacco. Abundant sweet tannins. Great structure and balance with very nice integration of all its elements.
Wow, this was surprising. Very fruit-forward with a huge nose of cinnamon and cherries. But it isn't too jammy or sweet - very nice balance. Nice, long finish. Paid under $10 and it drinks like a $25 bottle.
Very nice. Very nice indeed. Lots of fruit, not jammy, dark fruit, velvety smooth. Bargain. Paid 9, taste like 20.
Hate to rain on the parade... maybe I just got a bad bottle but this wine when I opened it was undrinkable.. It has a terrible dirty nose which also has contaminated the taste of the wine itself.. It also has an unpleasant alcoholic burn as it finishes. This one is a definite thumbs down for me. Paid $10 and I regret every penny. Second day the terrible nose was almost gone but still detectable. This wine is still way too alcoholic and burns on the mid palate and especially on the finish. There are many many many wines under $10 that imo are infinitely more enjoyable than this one. I will not be buying it again and in fact I am pouring the rest of it down the toilet as its not worth the torture of making myself drink it.

The 2007 Monte Bello is a blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 9% Petit Verdot, and 2% Cabernet Franc. Rich mountain fruit is matched by firm acidity. Elegant and fresh, this wine will be most enjoyable over the next five or six years.
This barrel-aged Chilean Chardonnay reveals buttery flavors and complexity that emphasize the union of refined flavors of tropical fruit and aromas. Full bodied and creamy in the mid palate and very complex
A touch of natural exoticism sits atop notably riper aromas of peach and pear that slide into rich full and powerful flavors that possess fine mid-palate concentration and explode into a spicy minerally and sappy finish. A classy effort that offers a completely different expression particularly in that the flavors and finish are fleshier if less precise. A choice. Burghound.
