Ricossa Moscato Moscato d'Asti 2009

Member Review by thunk16:

Sorry if the pictures are kind fuzzy, took them with my phone. I sampled this at a wine tasting in San Antonio last month at Spec's, it was delicious!! I don't like most wines because they sometimes leave a bitter after taste. As I've sampled more wines, I realized I like more of the "dessert wines", their really sweet. Before this wine, I was drinking called San Silvestro Dulcis Rosso (2009) and it was my favorite. Now this wine is my favorite! Not sure where else it is sold but if you like sweet wines, trust me you will love it as much as I do!

Ricossa is a wine and grappa producer based in Piedmont, Italy. Lorenzo Ricossa built the Portacomarese distillery on the outskirts of Asti in the late 1800s. He worked closely with local growers to source grapes for his products, and capitalized on one of the region’s earliest railways by opening a lodge near the distillery to house business travelers. This soon became a central meeting place for industry professionals, who were welcomed like family. Today, the Ricossa traditions are upheld with wines produced from grapes sourced throughout Piedmont, still in close working relationships with top quality vineyards. The wines are traditional Piedmontese styles of Barolo, Gavi, Barbera d’Asti, Moscato d’Asti, Cortese and Casorzo.  Read less

Sweeter than expected...wish it had been a bit drier. Paired well with spicy Asian food. A tasty summer spritzer.

This Moscato is just like butter. Smooth and not acidic and not overly sweet. Flavors of peach and maybe tropical fruit. Perfect alone or with dessert. So good we got a case.

New at wines. This is my favorite right now. Most wines leave an after taste, that I do not care for. This one is crisp and clean tasting. It is sweet, but I have tasted sweeter and did not care for them. This is just right to go with deserts or cheese snacks. Wish I could find others like it.

I spotted this in the bargain bin at Food Lion, I can onlyvsay that their loss was my gain. What a wonderful addition to dinner.
