Rhys Pinot Noir Santa Cruz Mountains Alpine Vineyard 2014

Winemaker's Notes:

93-96 points Antonio Galloni (Vinous): Crushed rose petals, dried cherries and herbs are some of the many nuances that open up in the 2014 Pinot Noir Alpine Vineyard. Bright acidity gives the flavors energy and lift, but the fruit remains quite dark and deep in its expression. The 2014 is deep and beautifully layered, with notable resonance, but no excess weight. This is another wine of immense promise from Rhys. (Jul 2015)

Very murky in the glass. Kind of a forest floor nose. On the tongue life is good. Tart red fruit--cherry, mostly, but with some stone fruit. The fruit, I have to add, is not over the top--not syrupy, at all, probably due to the acid. I do get some hints of spice. It could be cinnamon or it could be clove, but "hint" is the operative word. Quite short on the aftertaste, but, all in all, a terrific wine.

The deep ruby-colored 2008 Pinot Noir Alpine Vineyard (a 10-acre parcel planted at 1,400 feet) possesses a big, sweet, powerful nose of raspberries, spring flowers, damp earth, and mossy, foresty vegetation. Sweet currants, pomegranates, and black ra... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. A Pinot Noir wine from California in USA. 2008 Rhys Pinot Noir Alpine Vineyard 750ml
