Rex Goliath Merlot Monterey County Free Range NV

Winemaker's Notes:

"I really love this wine. Soft, supple, and complex. There is a certain elegance to this wine that fits my vision of the perfect Merlot: Pretty and seductive with a decidedly spicy nose of black cherry, cassis and cedar. Very ripe and round, almost like a Jolly Rancher candy. Mouth-filling flavors of plums, cherries and wild red berries dominate from start to finish. Good seam of acidity paired with soft tannins make this a wonderful wine for game fowl such as pheasant or duck. My preference would be Rock Cornish Game Hen...yum!" - Winemakers notes

Rex Goliath:
At age 70, I have had at least 50 yrs. of a glass of wine after my evening meals. Just recently, I noticed the Rex-Goliath Chardonnay on the shelf in our local grocery store liquor department (I live in a very small town). I decided to try it. WOW!! It's like what one would imagine drinking a glass of satin would be like. SMOOTH AS SATIN and OMG so very DELICIOUS. You have a new customer... Read more

It's like what one would imagine drinking a glass of satin would be like. SMOOTH AS SATIN and OMG so very DELICIOUS. You have a new customer from now on. I don't know how long you've been in business, however, I hope you are in business for a very very long time to come. I will definitely pass on my find to all of my friends. Read less

I liked this bottle I think... I know that when I was drinking it I thought "oh this is nice" but then it just slipped my mind to actually take any notes. I think this means it was good but not special.

Great price performer! Smooth and not too much of a sharp alcohalic taste that you often get with cheaper wines. Overall this is a great buy under 8$ (I found it for $6.50).

The Rex Goliath merlot is simple wine with few frills. It is great as a table wine or just something to sit around the home with. Its soft simple nature is hard to dislike. Nevertheless, it fails to stand out in a crowd. It is overly pleasing to the novice pallet, but the more experience wine drinkers might want something with a little more pizzazz.

Strong Berry taste, good for people with sweet tooth. I like a more dry Merlot but for the price, its not too bad.
