Disclaimer: I've had a lot of good wine, but sometimes drink for effect as much as taste, so... Lived in Buenos Aires for six months and enjoy a good Malbec, but a lot more in inflated pesos than Costco dollars. With that said, this is pretty good stuff. First whiff hits you in the nose like a polo stick or mallet or whatever the heck they use. This bad boy packs a punch and was better after an elongated re-exposure to the extra-bottle atmosphere. First few sips put me off a bit, but they proved to be pioneers that laid down a nice trail for the rest of glass one. By the end of that episode, I was ready for a second run. I enjoyed this first bottle and will definitely be back to C-co for some more, as long as it remains south of the $15 mark. I had it with a homemade chicken dish, but it's probably better suited to lamb chops or moderately priced steak. Not sure I'd break it out at McKendricks or other top notch steakhouse, but a worthy performer and decent value.
