Food Pairings for Réserve des Vignerons Saumur Blanc
Nice, crisp, dry rosé. However, my bottle says it's "100% cabernet franc" not sauvignon. I bought this to pair with salade niçoise, but we wound up drinking it by itself, so I'll hold off commenting on its flavors!

Five years ago I selected the 2000 vintage of this wine as my "pick." For those of you who stockpile your back issues of Bon Appétit and Road & Track, it would be the Sept./Oct. 2001 issue of the Premier catalog. For the rest of you sensible folks, the new vintage reminds me of the old vintage - crisp, clean and bursting with zesty lime and citrus flavors with a touch of honey and flowers. Pronounced "so-moor," and made entirely from Chenin Blanc by the proud vignerons of Alliance Loire, you'll enjoy it whether or not your name starts with v-i-g-n.
With just a trace of sweetness on the opening palate, the bold lime blossom, apricot and orange flavors of this Chenin Blanc have a jolt of minerality running through them.
Though Chenin Blanc from the Loire's Saumur appellation are rarely found in the U.S. market, their crisp texture and flavors of apple, limestone, and honey are quite delightful, and make Saumur an excellent alternative to dry Riesling, Muscadet, or Chablis.
"Please sir, may I have Saumur?" You will find yourself quoting this little twist of "Oliver" over and over after trying this wonderful Loire white. A floral nose carried through on the tongue with a touch of sweet honey backed by refreshing acidity and a bit of mineral on the finish. This wine is not only very affordable but the taste and complexity will surprise the "Dickens" out of you.
From the heart of the Loire Valley, where Chenin Blanc is the white grape of choice, this 2006 Saumur bursts with bright, tangy flavors of juicy pear and quince. It is clean and refreshing with zesty acidity.
A fresh, stony style, with hints of almond, white peach and melon rind notes. The dry style of Chenin Blanc is a crisp, refreshing wine with citrus flavors offset by an almost creamy texture. This is a delightful wine, versatile with a wide range of foods. It would pair nicely with grilled chicken or pork dishes.
