Reserve des Vignerons Reserve des Vignerons Saumur Champigny 2009

Member Review by InWineTruth:

Opaque garnet hue, aromas of red & black tree fruits with herbal overtones; bright dry black cherries, black raspberries race across the palate with sweet oak for a moderately long finish.

Delicious French Cab Franc, offering subtle but abundant ripe overtones of sweet black and raspberry fruit wrapped around a core of cranberry and saddle leather. Food pairing: poultry, seafood, pasta Flavor type: traditional Body type: light-medium Finish: elegant

In Saumur, wine makers build caves in the chalky soil so that wine can rest in stable condition. The Cave des Vignerons was established in 1957 by a group of winegrowers who wanted to combine their experience and expertise and to meet future challenges. This wine has a lovely, deep and expressive nose, full of rich fruit. The palate is divine, a balanced fruit cream with ripe and pure, velvety tannins.

Fresh, ripe and racy, showing a nice grippy edge to its black currant and fig notes, with mouthwatering tobacco and dark olive underneath. Stays driven on the finish. Drink now through 2011.
