Erasmo 2005/ From the dry-farmed vineyards of Maule, this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc is extremely austere when first poured. Oxygen reveals its lovely, bright red fruit and its sophisticated texture full of pointedly firm tannins. The long and profound finish calls for braised beef.
/ Ambitious but exciting debut vintage; a bordeaux blend made by an Italian
Reserva de Caliboro 2006 - 87 points, International Wine Cellar/ Bright ruby. High-toned aromas of redcurrant and cherry, with a spicy note in the background. Lively but showing some volatility, accented by spicy red fruit flavors and a hint of candied licorice. Finishes on a note of bitter cherry and with gentle tannic grip. On the rustic side but there's good depth of fruit here.
Reserva de Caliboro 2006 - 90 points, Wine Enthusiast/ The palate is tight, acidic and fresh, with an Old World mouthfeel and flavors of dried berry, earth, tobacco and spice. Snappy and crisp on the finish, with a final wave of propelling acidity.
Reserva de Caliboro 2006 - 88 Points, Wine Spectator / Slightly rustic in feel, but shows good character, with edgy currant, blackberry and tobacco notes laced with an olive hint. Dark and loamy on the broad finish.
Erasmo 2005 - 91 Points, Wine Advocate/ Purple-colored, it has an alluring bouquet of toasty oak, spice box, wood smoke, cassis and black currants. This leads to a medium-bodied, elegant wine with enough concealed structure to evolve for 3-4 years. This lengthy effort will be at its best from 2011 to 2020. Erasmo is owned by Count Francesco Marone Cinzano who also own Col d'Orcia, an excellent producer of Brunello di Montalcino in Tuscany.
