Reserva di Caliboro

External Review by Palm Bay International:

Reserva de Caliboro 2010 - 89 Points, Wine Enthusiast/ Earthy, smoky berry and cherry aromas are distinctly leathery and lightly herbal. This feels tight and bold, with cutting acidity. Flavors of toasty oak, herbal plum and black peppercorn finish long, due to blazing residual acidity. In fact, this is a sharp rendition of Erasmo that's not likely to get any more friendly than it currently is. Drink through 2025.

/ Ambitious but exciting debut vintage; a bordeaux blend made by an Italian

Reserva de Caliboro 2009 - 90 Points, Vinous/ Deep ruby. Potent black and blue fruit scents and are complicated by hints of licorice, pipe tobacco and violet. Sweet and sappy on the palate, offering ripe dark berry and cherry compote flavors that tighten up slowly on the back half. Finishes gently tannic and long, with building spiciness and a suave floral note.

Reserva de Caliboro 2009 - 88 points, Wine Enthusiast/ This is an earthy, somewhat flat wine with herbal berry aromas that fall away in quiet form. A full, grabby palate brings berry, raisin and tobacco flavors, all supported by a modest beam of acidity. A finish of earth, tobacco and mulchy flavors announce that 2009 was indeed a hot vintage in Chile.

Reserva de Caliboro 2006 - 87 points, International Wine Cellar/ Bright ruby. High-toned aromas of redcurrant and cherry, with a spicy note in the background. Lively but showing some volatility, accented by spicy red fruit flavors and a hint of candied licorice. Finishes on a note of bitter cherry and with gentle tannic grip. On the rustic side but there's good depth of fruit here.

/ Little by little, this Bordeaux blend from Italian ownership is inching toward where it wants to be. The 2005 is the best of the wine's four vintages to date. The bouquet deals a nice blend of cassis, plum, leather and truffle, and the finish is fresh.
