External Reviews for Renieri Brunello di Montalcino Riserva
The Renieri estate is located in the southern part of Montalcino on high altitude slopes. Owner/Winemaker Marco Bacci puts intense focus on his vineyards to produce the best possible fruit. His 70 acres of vines face southest to southwest at around 1,200 above sea level. These high altitude vines are planted in uniquley diverse, iron-rich soil that’s rare for this region. High density plantings are utilized to create extremely low yields. 2007 was yet another outstanding vintage for Brunello, with many rich, forward wines and this is one of the best. James Suckling scored it 94 points saying "Wild aromas of ripe fruit and fresh porcini mushrooms, follow through to a full body, with big juicy tannins. What it lacks in finesse it gives in opulence." Limited!
Already well-integrated, this cherry-infused red displays fine balance and refined tannins that support the fruit, spice and tobacco flavors. Firm and dry on the long, mineral-tinged aftertaste. Best from 2014 through 2025.
The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino comes across as big, rich and powerful. Kirsch, spices and leather emerge from the glass, followed by a kick of alcoholic warmth. There is good density in the glass, even if some slightly rustic elements remain. Anticipated maturity: 2014andndash;2025.
