Renato Ratti Barolo Marcenasco Conca Barolo 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

The Barolo DOCG Marcenasco Conca is boldly full-bodied and tannic. It's color is garnet red. A delicate and persistent bouquet with traces of licorice and Lebanese cedar pine. Full flavored, warm and tannic. A great wine for important dishes, red meats on the spit or grilled, game, "grande cuisine" white and red meat dishes and aged cheeses.

Renato Ratti:
Half way up the hill overlooking the main Barolo valley, along the first spurs of the neatly aligned vineyards, lies the Abbey of the Annunziata (Our Lady of the Annunciation), a priceless jewel of the 15th Century. Just as the good friars of centuries past produced wines from the grapes grown along the hollow below their abbey, a position of glory and grandeur, today, faithful to their same timeless wisdom, wines of incomparable quality are produced.

AWE lind tasting - sweet wood, furry, nice jammy wild raspberry fruit tones, pretty nose, rosehips and sweet fruitwood smoke, a touch of fruit stripes gum, fresh, easy, a bit hollow on the palate, successful restaurant style wine, drinkable with some nice sour cherry notes, a nice finish, solid if simple wine, the finish has some nice length 87-88
