What to Expect

The Gamay grape finds it's home in France's Burgundy region where it is responsible for the red wines of Beaujolais. Producing light to medium bodied wines with modest tannins and good acidity, Gamay is unfairly associated with Beaujolais Nouveau. It is capable of producing wonderful, cherry and raspberry flavored wines with earthy hints of violets and spice.

Soft red fruits, good acidity on the attack. Soft mid palette. No secondary fermentation so some residual sugar, not too sweet though.

Drunk as part of a 12 course tasting menu at WD50. Paired with chocolate genache, avocado, licorice and lime, then caraway raspberry crunch.

Don't know if this is the same Bugey Cerdon that I tried, as the label is vastly different, but if it is, here's what I wrote about it: A bit unremarkable on the nose, but at first taste, it was delightfully sweet, with definite notes of raspberry/blackberry. The finish was a nice contrast - quite dry and crisp. It's simple, but pleasant and very palatable.

This is a great dinner party wine. Very enjoyable. Should be served with dessert, maybe some strawberry shortcake. Good acidity balances out the sweetness.

Very fruity, apple, muscat fruits. Fresh and succulent. Refreshing and very smooth finish. Juicy, loved it!

Lucky Ive learned a few things in the last 15 months. I cant believe i ever wrote "no secondary fermentation" for a sparkling wine... How did I think the bubbles got in there?

Pink / salmon hue. Floral, delicate nose. Very acidic, balances the residual sugar well. Its pretty sweet (4%+). Very tasty. Good with pear tatin or something similar... summer fruits and cream maybe.
