The moment you put the wine in your mouth, it jumps off your tongue in way that almost tickles. The wine brings a crisp feel to your mouth and has a nice apple taste that is followed by the sweetness of honey and a touch of grass. A second taste yields the pear flavor that is touted on the bottle’s label, and the general citrusy smell develops into a sweet, ripe grapefruit. The taste lingers in your mouth for a pleasurable medium-to-long finish. For a more detailed review, visit my blog at http://bit.ly/16nbBQ

Vouvray 2007 - 86 Points, Wine Spectator/ Soft and lightly sweet, this wine is clean and fresh. The white fruit flavors edge towards almond, and there is a refreshing green touch. The aftertaste has currants and sweetness.

Remy Pannier has been identified with premium quality Loire Valley wines since 1885, when it was founded by Francois Rémy. In 1956, Remy Pannier decided to partner with Maison Ackerman, the pioneer of Loire sparkling wine production. Ackerman then passed the company down to his son, Louis Ackerman, who kept the tradition of fine winemaking in the family for generations. Over the years, Remy Pannier has developed strong working relationships with over 800 growers throughout the Loire Valley. Working closely with these affiliated growers, Remy Pannier provides advice on the latest viticultural practices to ensure production of the finest quality grapes. Remy Pannier has built three state-of-the-art wineries in the premier Loire Valley wine districts of Anjou, Touraine and the Pays Nantais where all their Loire Valley wines are vinified. Remy Pannier’s attractive packaging reflects over a century of tradition and experience in Loire Valley winemaking. Production Area The vineyards of Vouvray are planted on a plateau on the north bank of the Loire River. Clay and gravel are common in the topsoil; chalk forms the subsoil, and the small valleys in and around the town of Vouvray are riddled with caves and cellars. Grape Varieties 100% Chenin Blanc Vinification Rigorous low yield control (50-60 hl/ha). Grapes are picked at optimal maturity, and bunches are pressed immediately, followed by low temperature fermentation to preserve tropical fruit flavors and aromas. The juice is protected with CO2 and does not undergo malolactic fermentation. Aged on the fine lees to obtain a rounder texture and stored in stainless steel tanks until bottling maintains the freshness, minerality, and purity of the Chenin grape. Color Bright gold Bouquet Richly fragrant with hints of ripe pear, honey and brioche Taste Harmonious and delicately sweet, with flavors of green apple underscored by honey nuances. Round and refreshing, with lime, almond and hints of spice on the finish. Alcohol 11.5% Serving Suggestions This wine is delicious with roasted nuts, foie gras, fish dishes, honey glazed ham and fresh fruit desserts.

Vouvray 2008 - 87 Points, International Wine Cellar/ Pale yellow. Fresh melon and flowers on the nose. Pliant, sweet honeydew and peach flavors are light in body and a touch loose-knit but provide good palate coverage. Finishes with a touch of bitter pear skin and a repeating melon note.
