Reinhold Haart Riesling Spätlese Erste Lage Wintricher Ohligsberg 2005

Member Review by winenut718:

Lovely pale yellow color- almost crystal clear. Lovely nose of ripe apples, hazelnuts and baking spices (cinnamon, nutmeg). Densely packed tropical fruit on the palate that initially finishes very strongly but shuts down after about 1/2 hour in the glass. One to wait for.

Pale greenish yellow. Exquisite bouquet of peach pit, acacia blossom and lemon oil. Delicate on the palate, with an attractive juxtaposition of apricot sweetness and spicy citricity. Crisp, bright and elegant on the persistently long finish. Classic ... Stephen Tanzer's IWC. A Riesling wine from Mosel Saar Ruwer in Germany. 2005 Reinhold Haart Riesling Kabinett Piesporter Goldtropfchen 750ml

Wine Advocate ReviewRated 92The 2005 Piesporter Grafenberg Riesling Sptlese comes from a small, steep parcel of red slate whose terraces Theo Haart rebuilt, whose shy-, tiny-berrybearing vines (from a Wurttemberg clone) he planted a decade ago, and which he has only this year deemed worthy of a separate bottling. Scents of pineapple and white peach tinged with brown spices and black tea set the themes for a subtly creamy yet insistently fresh-fruited palate. Lovely, subtle suggestions of pistachio cream and honey enfold pineapple, tangerine, and peach fruit in a finish of striking refinement, delicacy, and persistence. Any readers looking for a firsttime wine with which to start building an outstanding and almost certainly age worthy collection should latch onto some bottles of this Grafenberg.Wine Spectator ReviewRated 92Floral and talcum powder aromas and a lime flavor mark this supple Riesling. The citrus acidity keeps it fresh, while the slate element sits just under the surface. Fine length. Drink now through 2018.
