Regaleali Bianco Sicilia 2009
The large Regaleali estate, high in the central Sicilian hills, has been in the hands of the noble Tasca family since 1830. Ever since, the property has been run according to the best principles of the agricultural aristocracy: with one eye firmly on quality, and the other on experimentation. Tasca’s large range is the product of the family’s most successful innovations, including short pruning for lower yields, the championing of local Inzolia and Nero d’Avola vines, the introduction of French varieties, and the use of barrique and temperature control. Even now, forty grape varieties from all over Europe are planted just for experimental purposes, with the possibility of making the grade in the future. However, there is already plenty on offer in this singularly accomplished range of Sicilian wines. The elegant white blend is delicately fruity on the nose with apple, peach and pink grapefruit notes. The palate is quite intense and crisp, with plenty of fresh fruit flavours.
Editorial Reviews for Regaleali Bianco Sicilia
Light and floral on the nose with notes of melon and grapefruit pith. Nice acids up front enliven the palate which is light, perhaps a bit simple but fresh with nice purity to the peach and grapefruit flavors. This has ok length finishing with vibrant minerality, and is really very well balanced. Not a show stopper but very refreshing with good texture for a relatively light weight wine. 88pts
citrus, grapefruit and a little limestone. bright acidity, very refreshing, and great for a hot summer day

Considering how far south they are, these wines possess remarkable freshness, as evidenced by the 2005 Bianco IGT, a blend of such indigenous grapes as Inzolia, Caterratto, and Grecanico. With good acidity and a superb finish, this stunning 2005 will drink well for 1ndash;2 years.
