What to Expect

Zinfandel is considered America's own great indigenous grape, even though its origins lie on the Adriatic coast. Planted throughout California and the Pacific Northwest, Zinfandel is at its best in warm regions with cooler temperatures during harvest. The wines can range from off-dry Rosés, White Zinfandels, and light bistro styled wines, to big, rich powerful wines - even luscious wines for dessert bottling. The flavors range from plummy to raspberry, although deep blackberry fruit and brambly spice tones are most common.

Winemakers Notes

Substantial blackberry and plum flavors along with a healthy dose of black pepper and more subtle notes of orange peel and glycerin.

Editorial Reviews

Black raspberry jam on dry toast greets the nose, tight with black fruit and spice notes slowly unfurling wit a touch of apricot jam and a nice brambly top note. There’s a little vanilla and spice box but it’s well integrated and in balance. Very nicely balanced with nothing sticking out, good acids add to the mouthfeel and the tannins are well concealed by the plush fruit. This is layered and complex with nice frutti di bosco tones, hints of earth, black spice and wood spice all adding accent notes to the fresh blackberry fruits. The freshness extends to the finish, which is a bit short but has a read more...

Deep plummy nose, leading to a wine that is very silky and smooth (low acidity). Full of chocolate, plum and fig notes and finishes on prunes. Very fruity and rich. Excellent silky mouthfeel.
