Redbank Wines Shiraz the Long Paddock 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2006/07 growing season showed great potential. Unfortunately however, wide spread bushfires across North-East Victoria had a devastating effect on the region. As a result Redbank opened the gates to ‘the Long Paddock’ and sourced the Shiraz grapes from a range of premium grape growing regions across Victoria. The 2007 Long Paddock Shiraz is crimson red in colour. The wine shows a floral lift of purple flowers combined with the juicy sweetness of dark plums. A medium bodied wine showing freshness, a juicy mid palate and finishing with soft tannins. Delicious current drinking but will also benefit from 3 to 5 years in the cellar. Try with sausages and roast potatoes.

This strength was apparent in the hard working migrants who established a thriving farming community in the rugged High Country of North East Victoria. Redbank Snowy VinesToday a small, select "family" of growers, some direct descendents of the original pioneers, produce premium fruit for the wines of Redbank. Vineyards that are lashed by blizzardly cold winter winds and buried in snow for part of the year emerge at harvest with grapes of the highest quality that enable the Redbank winemakers to produce superb cool climate wines.
