Redbank King Valley Sunday Morning Pinot Gris 2008

Winemaker's Notes:

After the disappointment of not being able to produce a 2007 vintage the winemaking and viticultural teams at Redbank anxiously awaited the 2008 harvest. After another dry winter heavy rains combined with high temperatures and humidity in Spring and early Summer threatened the risk of disease in the region. However, with the hard work of growers, very little disease emerged and harvest got into full swing in February. Fortunately the fruit was harvested before the extreme March heat wave. The wine from this vintage show very good varietal definition, balance and fruit persistence. This is a wine which is perfect with seafood or white meat dishes. It is pale straw in colour with bright green hues, lifted aromas of spices, white florals, fresh pear and guava. The palate delivers fresh and generous texture and mouth watering acidity with subtle citrus and pear fruit flavours.

This strength was apparent in the hard working migrants who established a thriving farming community in the rugged High Country of North East Victoria. Redbank Snowy VinesToday a small, select "family" of growers, some direct descendents of the original pioneers, produce premium fruit for the wines of Redbank. Vineyards that are lashed by blizzardly cold winter winds and buried in snow for part of the year emerge at harvest with grapes of the highest quality that enable the Redbank winemakers to produce superb cool climate wines. Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.
