Cabenet Sauvignon: Originally of French origins, this versatile grape produces exceptional wines around the globe. It's usually medium to full bodied with a fine structure that supports black and red fruit flavors with typical notes of olive, chili and herbs that add complexity.

Winemakers Notes

2002 was an exceptional vintage year for Victoria, particularly the King and Ovens Valleys. Extended cool, dry ripening conditions and naturally low crops resulted in concentrated fruit flavours. Fruit for The Fugitive has been primarily sourced from high altitude vineyards in the King Valley and blended with a small portion of warmer Ovens Valley fruit which adds richness and complexity. The Fugitive Cabernet Sauvignon 2002 is a deep red colour with vibrant purple hues and a rich, lifted nose of blackcurrants, integrated French oak and touches of mint and eucalyptus. The score is based on the wine, with no consideration of the price; this is a serious Cabernet: structured, sophisticated and satisfying as the black tobacco in a Sobrane. The depth is there in the color, violet-purple at the edge, black cherry at the core. The depth of black cherry extends to the aroma and the finish, all dense fruit on a supple, generous texture.
