Red Rock Pinot Noir Reserve 2014

External Review by We Speak Wine:

Our Red Rock Winery Pinot Noir offers layers of raspberry jam and plum supported by hints of vanilla, caramel and oak. A touch of Zinfandel helps to create a rich palate and silky mouthfeel, leading the way to a lingering, fruit forward finish. It’s a versatile match for a wide range of foods, offering a delicious counterpart to roasted poultry, pork and beyond. Description: As any true explorer knows, inspiration comes in many forms. At Red Rock Winery, we get ours from the beauty of nature, which inspires us to create something spectacular with the tools we’ve been given. Each bottle of Red Rock is crafted as an everlasting oath—a promise—to put our all into every wine we make. These wines inspire us to never stop dreaming, to never stop climbing. Viticulture Notes: The 2014 vintage in California mild and dry throughout most of the season. A few well-timed rains and warm, sunny weather in the summer allowed grapes to ripen at their own pace. Harvest was early and quick, resulting in wines that are well-balanced and fruit-forward. Winemaking Notes: At the winery, the grapes for our Pinot Noir were destemmed and then fermented in a combination of upright, rotary and conesweep tanks for one week at cool temperatures to retain delicate aromatics and a crisp acidity. Following primary fermentation, this Pinot Noir underwent malolactic fermentation to create a creamy mouthfeel with lots of texture. Wine Description: A touch of Zinfandel helps to create a rich palate and silky mouthfeel, leading the way to a lingering, fruit forward finish. Varietal Content: 93% Pinot Noir 7% Zinfandel Titratable Acidity: 0.51g/100ml pH: 3.72 Alcohol Level: 13.9% Residual Sugar: .17g/100ml

Red Rock Winery:
Over the past decade Red Rock has gained an enviable reputation for producing superb ultra premium wines. They are handcrafted on the estate from vines that creep up the side of a dormant volcano west of Geelong. The mineral-rich soil, low rainfall and cool climate result in a unique terroir which, when coupled with sensitive winemaking, yields distinctly individual wines with power and finesse.
