Snappy and bright, with citrus galore.
27% cabernet franc, 23% syrah, 16% cabernet sauvignon, 16% merlot, 14% noiret, 4% pinot noir.... everything but the kitchen sink in this non-vintage meld. Nice fruit up front and more complexity than expected in the middle and finish. A nice finger lakes red. Long live Red Newt!
This is possibly one of the worst wines I have ever drank. We had a bottle given to us as a gift. It has no legs and is really light in colour, with a mild berry flavour. It has an almost syntheti aftertaste. Both me and my wife, after sharing a bottle both had the worst headaches the following day. We are both wine drinkers and never suffer like this, which leads me to think there is something in the wine.
External Reviews for Red Newt Cellars Red Blend Finger Lakes Viridescens
A semi-dry, exquisitely fruity blend of Vidal Blanc and Cayuga White. Perfectly balanced to accompany a wide variety of foods and please most any palate. Cayuga White and Vidal Blanc are both excellent wine varieties. Cayuga lends brightness and crispness to the blend. Vidal lends fruit intensity, body and structure. Both varieties are fermented in stainless tanks with a variety of yeast strains. Various cellar management techniques such as cool, gentle fermentation, sur lie aging, lees stirring and juice reserve addition increase the complexity and structure of the wine while retaining delicate characters. - Winery ** SOLD OUT **
This exquisitely dry and fruit driven wine is one that demands attention. Dry, with delicate aromas of apple followed by clean citrus flavors and a crisp finish with hints of lemon peel. This wine is a perfect accompaniment to grilled tuna with lime and cilantro. - Winery
Forward, rich fruit combined with a supple palate make it a wonderful wine for sipping or pairing with fish, fowl or game. - Winery
