Red Knot Cabernet Sauvignon 2011
The McLaren Vale region is located 45 minutes south of Adelaide, the capital city of South Australia. The area is bound to the south by the Sellick's Hill range, extends east to Clarendon, reaches to the north just beyond Reynella and is bordered on the west by the waters of the Gulf St. Vincent. First planted with vines in the 1830's, McLaren Vale is best known today for its internationally acclaimed rich, flavourful Shiraz.
Editorial Reviews for Red Knot Cabernet Sauvignon
A bit meaty on the nose, though rather fresh and bright with black fruit, soil, cracked pepper and grilled meaty aromas. Smooth and larger scaled in the mouth, the flavors here are simple but attractive combination of black currant and wood spice with a hint of leather and earth joining in. This is moderately rich but at the same time it offers well balanced acid and tannins, lending this an attractive freshness in the mouth, and through modest, tart red fruited and gently oaked finish. A bit matte in the mouth but a pleasant surprise as well. 85pts
Spicy on the nose with notes of black peppery married to spicy oak and resin framed plummy fruit. fairly full on entry and well balanced with some aggressive woody notes early on the palate followed by a mouthful of spicy and slightly jammy blueberry and strawberry fruit. There’s some gentle tannin here and plenty of spiking acidity keeping things fresh and lively in the mouth. The finish is short and shows some dry woody tannins and a hint of sweetness in a slightly clumsy way. A gutsy little wine that is easy to like for it’s plump intensity. 83pts

This was really good for the price point. Plenty of blackberry and Damson plum, wood, chocolate and chewy tannins combined with juicy acidity give a better than average everyday drinking experience - which is exactly what you could do at this price. Drink now - Paul 87 points
Rich cherry and oak aroma with berry and soft vanilla notes. The flavor is full of fruit and berry, oak and hints of vanilla. Very peppery. Decanting would be very beneficial for this wine. Great wine, great price. I paid $10.99. I'll definitely buy it again.
Love this wine. When I first opened I just had to have two glasses of it. Really a pleasure to drink.

Right off the bat you see a deep magenta color in the glass. Fragrant aromas of blackberry and black forest cake with hints of citrus blossom and subtle cashew oak fill the nose. The textured, dark berry fruit palate is alive with black pepper and licorice nuances. Chewy tannins coat the tongue and define the long, lingering finish.
Vibrant magenta in colour. Pretty aromas of ripe strawberry and blackberry are embellished with floral, milk chocolate and black pepper nuances. Dark berry and rich, earthy flavours combine with silky tannins to coat the tongue and linger with hints of savoury oak. A medium - full bodied wine that is enticing and seductive in its youth. - Winery ** SOLD OUT **
This is McLaren Vale! Vibrant deep red with purple hues complement aromas of blackberry and cassis with nuances of chocolate and vanilla. Luscious blackberry fruit overflows from the mid-palate and is combined with fine tannins and a slate-like minerality. A full-bodied wine with a long, lingering finish, with good integration of its fruit, structural and subtle oak elements.
