Red Diamond Merlot Washington 2014

Member Review by sbr1105:

I am a Merlot girl. I want lots of berry flavors, low tannin and low acidity. This is priced well and a easy drinking wine.

2008. Very good wine for $7 (Trader Joe's). After aeration, fairly smooth.

Luscious, fruit forward wine. Well blended. Perfect with food or alone. What a nice surprise...got it as a gift, but would buy it again.

Our Washington Merlot opens with a beautifully knit blackberry, cherry and spice scented nose with a toasty oak background. Sweet fruit on the palate is complemented by medium-bodied but firm tannins.

For four consecutive years Red Diamond Merlot was ranked one of America’s top 20 Restaurant Merlots according to Wine & Spirits Magazine. Made by Washington State’s Chateau Ste. Michelle, this affordable ripe red shows rich fruit and true varietal character. Winemaker Laura Sorge selects grapes from some of Washington's best vineyards and carefully blends 93% Merlot, 4% Cabernet and 3% Malbec. The wine is aged 12 months in French and American oak barrels for added complexity and style. Classic Washington State Merlot at a great price. It’s no wonder restaurant goers can’t get enough of it.

Aromas of bright cherry and cola, and hints of cinnamon introduce this Merlot. The silky palate displays flavors of black cherry, spice, and a touch of caramel and mocha, the finish is soft and begs you to drink more.

I want to make wines that everyone can enjoy. Red Diamond wines aren t meant to intimidate or mystify people, says Laura Sorge, Winemaker at Red Diamond Wines. They are approachable, fruit-forward and have a unique style to them.
