Red Diamond Merlot Washington 2010
The 2010 growing season experienced chilly spring temperatures, and a mild summer. Waiting for that late, warm fall to arrive pushed harvest out weeks later than normal. But having the extra hangtime allowed the fruit to develop beautifully concentrated flavors, and become a very layered, textural wine with fragrant fruit impressions that simply jump out of the glass. Warm, rich and distinctly spicy, the velvety texture and supple tannins invite you to take another sip and let each dazzling flavor linger.
Red Diamond is a brand of wines produced in Washington State since 2003. The value driven wines were initially only marketed to restaurants, but were such a success, that they expanded to retail offerings in 2004. The wines are available in Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Chardonnay. They continue to be some of the most popular American restaurant and bar wines, offering good bang-for-buck quality.
Luscious, fruit forward wine. Well blended. Perfect with food or alone. What a nice surprise...got it as a gift, but would buy it again.
Nice crimson color. some dried berry fruit and dark plum on the nose. Really nice mouth feel with medium tannins with dark fruits abound. This merlot has beautiful structure and ends with a medium finish. Washington state has its act together when it comes to Merlot.
A Merlot that is rich, full, a note of oak on a mouthful of cherry and Blackberry flavor. Smooth , surprisingly non-tannic finish. Lingers in the mouth. Very good wine.
Bought randomly, once it breaths for a little while it is nice.
