Red Diamond Merlot 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

Aromas of bright cherry and cola, and hints of cinnamon introduce this Merlot. The silky palate displays flavors of black cherry, spice, and a touch of caramel and mocha, the finish is soft and begs you to drink more.

Red Diamond:
Red Diamond is a brand of wines produced in Washington State since 2003. The value driven wines were initially only marketed to restaurants, but were such a success, that they expanded to retail offerings in 2004. The wines are available in Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Chardonnay. They continue to be some of the most popular American restaurant and bar wines, offering good bang-for-buck quality.

This Merlot opens with a beautifully knit blackberry, cherry and spice scented nose with a toasty oak background. Sweet fruit on the palate is complemented by medium-bodied but firm tannins.

Red Diamond Merlot is one of America’s top 10 Restaurant Merlot's according to Wine & Spirits Magazine. Made by Washington State’s Chateau Ste. Michelle, this affordable ripe red shows rich fruit and true varietal character. Winemaker Juan Munoz Oca, selects grapes from some of Washington's best vineyards and carefully blends 92% Merlot, 3% Cabernet, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. The wine is aged 12 months in French and American oak barrels for added complexity and style. Classic Washington State Merlot at a great price. It’s no wonder restaurant goers can’t get enough of it.
