Red Diamond Merlot 2006

Member Review by wlstiles3:

I tried this wine after reading a review on a blog, I found it to be a good buy at this price point. Dark berries, smooth tannins, nice finish.

Fantastic body for a Merlot - great sipping wine and even better with grilled meats or baked chicken

Smooth, slightly oaky and plenty of berry flavours. Taste buds will barely notice tannins. Worth buying if you can find it under $10 in your local wine store.

Red Diamond Merlot is one of America’s top 10 Restaurant Merlot's according to Wine & Spirits Magazine. Made by Washington State’s Chateau Ste. Michelle, this affordable ripe red shows rich fruit and true varietal character. Winemaker Juan Munoz Oca, selects grapes from some of Washington's best vineyards and carefully blends Merlot with a hint of Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is aged 12 months in French and American oak barrels for added complexity and style. Classic Washington State Merlot at a great price. It’s no wonder restaurant goers can’t get enough of it. Wine Spectator Vintage Rating: 94

Aromas of bright cherry and cola, and hints of cinnamon introduce this Merlot. The silky palate displays flavors of black cherry, spice, and a touch of caramel and mocha, the finish is soft and begs you to drink more.
