Delicate fine-grain tannins provide good structure, and linger throughout the milk chocoloate-infused finish.
Reserve Merlot 2006 - 87 Points, Wine Advocate/ The 2006 Reserve Merlot is quite a mouthful. Aged for 16 months in French oak, it is powerful and intense, as well as laced with sweet vanilla notes. As it aired out and the fruit had a chance to poke its head up from beneath the oaky layer, I liked this more and more... This comes from Israel's Ella Valley rather than the usual northern vineyards because, during hostilities with Lebanon, the winery could not harvest normally in the North.

Recanati wines are certified kosher . Production Area Select high-altitude Menara vineyard in Israel’s Upper Galilee, 2,500 feet above sea level, is the source of this singular Reserve Merlot. Grape Varieties 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon Vinification After careful hand harvesting, the grapes are de-stemmed and left to soak for two days to fully extract their fruity, spicy character. A small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon is included to enhance depth and complexity. After a fermentation period of two weeks, the wine is transferred to French oak barrels where it matures for 18 months. Color Deep purple. Bouquet Complex aromas of red berries, cassis and roses, underscored by hints of white pepper, cloves and green olives. Taste Elegant, full-bodied and supple, with spicy aromas carrying through on the palate to combine with flavors of ripe red berries. Serving Suggestions An outstanding accompaniment to grilled red meats, poultry, risottos and mushroom-based dishes. Serve slightly cooler than room temperature.
Reserve Merlot 2007 - The Star Ledger/ The 2007 RecanatiMerlot Reserve is from Menaravineyard and contains 15 percent cabernet sauvignon. The latter supplies a nice black berry aroma and flavor, and the aging in French oak contributes a supple texture and a mild black olive secondary taste. Good balance and a very pleasant finish make this wine ideal for a beef stew or with filet mignon.
Passover: Family, friends and feasting/ This rich, elegant, medium- to full-bodied wine exhibits aromas and flavors of clove, bell pepper, cassis, green olives, raspberry, cherry, plum, eucalyptus, sage and blackcurrants, with hints of vanilla, fresh ground pepper, a hint of white pepper and a whisper of dark chocolate.
