Ruby-red. Exotic bouquet suggests cherry-cola, vanilla and fresh flowers. Deep and luscious, but with admirable restraint and mineral snap to its powerful cherry and red berry liqueur flavors. Finishes sweet, broad and long. Very nicely balanced for ... Stephen Tanzer. A Proprietary Blend wine from Rhone in France. 2006 Domaine Raymond Usseglio Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Imperiale 750ml
Wine Advocate # 173 Oct 2007 Robert Parker (90-92) Drink 2007 - 2022 The 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Girard is slightly fuller, seems to have more texture and nuances, but otherwise has the almost identical character of its sibling, and why shouldnt it, as it is essentially the same cuvee, just without clarification. It should evolve and drink nicely for 12-15 years. There are two superb Usseglio estates in Chateauneuf du Pape, and this one, although somewhat in the shadow of the recent efforts of the Domaine Pierre Usseglio, should never to be discounted as the wines from Raymond Usseglio are top-notch and classic in style. Both 2006 and 2005 are strong vintages for this estate. Readers should know that the Cuvee Girard is essentially the same cuvee as their traditional cuvee of Chateauneuf du Pape but bottled unfined and unfiltered for the American importer and thus available only in the United States.
