I was skeptical of this Merlot, as its aroma permeated the instant the cork was released. It's fragrance as you lift the glass to your mouth and nose doesn't seem pleasant at all, but it is remarkably smooth on the pallet and very subtle. At first it hints of mild fruit flavors like cherries, raspberries and cranberries, even a hint of apple. by the time you're taking your last few sips it's smoky, oak and nutty flavors begin to come forward. For a bottle that costs less than $30, i was very pleased and would enjoy adding a few more bottles to my collection. Overall, this was a remarkable drop!

The nose is full of ripe Comice pear and sweet Crenshaw melon; while on the palate, everything’s here for a well-made, extremely satisfying wine. It’s balanced, possesses ripe, juicy fruit, and has a goodly wash of acidity. It’s fairly light and crisp and very food friendly, particularly with citrus-based salads.
