2007 Teldeschi Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel – Planted between 1913 and 1919 predominantly to Zinfandel with almost a quarter Petite Sirah and a smattering of Carignane vines. 31% new wood. Powerful on the nose and while more marked by cherry wood the big, plummy and dark cherry fruit seems able to handle the spice. There is a touch of butterscotch that is a bit disconcerting but nice earthy tones balance it nicely. This is remarkably elegant considering the weight and depth of the dark fruit on the palate. The fruit is fresh and crisp, bright ollaliberries framed with cigar box and spice tones. A rather refined Zin. 93pts
Confermented with mixed blacks, predominantly Carignane, Petite Sirah and Alicante, from this very cool site with sandy soils. Planted in about 1900. 32% new wood. Big and bushy on the nose with notes of briar, seashells and big peppery top notes, some herbal tones give this a green peppercorn quality. Big, rich and juicy in the mouth with red apple acids giving real snap to the dark, earthy fruits. This finishes with big structure, those red apple acids as well as slightly drying, aggressive tannins. The boysenberry fruit on the palate is floating a bit beneath the structure with hints of dried leaves and smoky tones adding some complexity, Very youthful feeling with room to improve. 90pts
Deep, complex, floral and fungal. Rustic and full of plum and raisin, finishes with a hint of olive and dark chocolate.
a full bodied, deep wine filled with dark berries - blackberries, plums, currant, and spice with a more chocolate finish. can certainly age but will go terrific with a big steak dinner
Nose of bread and baking spice - lots of complexity. Delicate currants in the mouth with a well-integrated acidity but a gentile finish with hints of cocoa.
Thick and plummy with firm tannins. Nice blueberry highlights. Blackberry. Woodsy, truffle nose with some mushroom character. Very nice.

This is Ravenswood's introductory Zinfandel. A full-bodied red with black berry fruit, cherries, and pepper aromas. If you like this Zin, try the rest of their wines: you'll immediately see the family resemblance.
A solid wine, with a firm texture and lots of plum and raspberry aromas and flavors. Hints at vanilla and turns a mite tannic on the finish, so probably best to drink after 1993.
Chewy Zin, with concentrated dried wild berry, dried raspberry and strawberry jam flavors. Pretty vanilla tones linger, along with modest tannins and a slight metallic note. Good value from a Zinfandel specialist. Drink now through 2006.

Medium ruby; pleasant, floral, herbal, briary, toasty, raspberry fruit aroma with a hint of cigar-box; medium-full body; fairly big, rich, jammy, plummy, tarrish, high-extract flavors with good depth; lingering aftertaste. Above-average quality. Highly recommended.
