Food Pairings for Ravenswood Zinfandel Rosato Sonoma County
Seemed average, sugary.
Bold, fruity, big vanilla oak nose fairly balanced, but overpowering
ok taste. good price.
Consistently one of my go to wines. Always pleasing. Luscious rich, full, spicy flavor.
Very good Zin for the price
This was wine was a pleasant surprise. Oak suffused dark red fruits. Some mention peppers but that wasn't evident, nor was it too sweet for my taste (as many wines are becoming) and I consume very little sugar, generally. The wine (a gift, so now I must locate a retailer) was 84% Z, 8% Carignane, 6% Petite Sirah, and 2% mixed blacks(?). From a little research I see that '07 bottles can be slightly different blends. I like to hunt down inexpensive fruity, full bodied reds with character. This wine satisfies the first three requirements, and I'm hopeful to achieve a flush.
Tried Ravenwood Zin Vintners Blend 07 today. First time for this winery too. I was less impressed than expected. I had heard fairly good things about this winery. A little young tasting. Mostly plum flavors and a hint of peppery. The flavors have not melded well. I'm not sure if this is due to age, or process.
External Reviews for Ravenswood Zinfandel Rosato Sonoma County
This is Ravenswood's introductory Zinfandel. A full-bodied red with black berry fruit, cherries, and pepper aromas. If you like this Zin, try the rest of their wines: you'll immediately see the family resemblance.
Strong, earthy Zin, with basic flavors of wild berries, tobacco and dried herbs. Dry and pretty tannic. Not much subtlety, and certainly not a wimpy wine.
Medium red. Aromas of black raspberry, mocha, smoke and bitter chocolate. Sweet, simple berry and chocolate flavors nicely firmed by ripe acidity.
A solid wine, with a firm texture and lots of plum and raspberry aromas and flavors. Hints at vanilla and turns a mite tannic on the finish, so probably best to drink after 1993.
Raspberries, blueberries, black cherries, and spicy hints of oak spring forthfrom the fruit-laden aroma of this wine. Well balanced with supple tanninsand a long, fruit-forward finish make this wine a pleasure to drink nowand for the next couple of years. A very sophisticated wine for the price.
Straightforward, balanced and generous in flavor, echoing cherry and toast on a moderately long finish. Easy to approach but firm enough in texture to complement serious food.
Chewy Zin, with concentrated dried wild berry, dried raspberry and strawberry jam flavors. Pretty vanilla tones linger, along with modest tannins and a slight metallic note. Good value from a Zinfandel specialist. Drink now through 2006.
