decent wine that i picked up from the ravenswood vineyard directly a few years back. decent, though not a personal favorite
($30) leathery, blackberry, currant
($30) - bright fruit, ras, cherries, tannic
Not my personal favorite; a little too heavy in the tannins, but others certainly like Ravenswood's famous Zin.
I am predominantly a white wine drinker but I truly enjoy this red. It has notes of cherries and a bit of oak. The fruit flavor remains long after you've finished your glass.
Lucky shareholder's! At $125/bottle, a great keeper! Better now that it's been cellared.
External Reviews for Ravenswood Zinfandel Lodi
Chewy and ripe, with dried raspberry, vanilla and ripe plum flavors that finish with firm tannin, lively acidity and a peppery note. Drink now through 2006.
A well-structured wine with charming, youthful fruit. The wine has spicy, ripe raspberry aromas and flavors of black cherry, mint and vanilla. It finishes crisp and clean.
A big bruiser with youthful wild berry, sage and earth flavors and hefty tannins. Has the jamminess and sharp acids of a young wine. Drink with rich meats, tomato sauce and olive oil.
Strong, earthy Zin, with basic flavors of wild berries, tobacco and dried herbs. Dry and pretty tannic. Not much subtlety, and certainly not a wimpy wine.
