About This Wine:
The mostly old vines that make up our Teldeschi are Zinfandel, Carignane, and Petite Sirah, a mélange typical of older vineyard plantings in California. The three varieties are fermented separately and blended to taste. Native yeast fermentation, small open-top fermenters, manual punching down of the cap, read more...

2007 Teldeschi Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel - Planted between 1913 and 1919 predominantly to Zinfandel with almost a quarter Petite Sirah and a smattering of Carignane vines. 31% new wood.

Powerful on the nose and while more marked by cherry wood the big, plummy and dark cherry fruit seems able to handle the spice. There is a touch of butterscotch that is a bit disconcerting but nice earthy tones balance it nicely. This is remarkably elegant considering the weight and depth of the dark fruit on the palate. The fruit is fresh and crisp, bright ollaliberries framed with cigar box and spice tones. A rather refined Zin. 93pts

Tasting Notes

76% Zinfandel 22% Petite Sirah and 2% Carignane The 2007 Teldeschi Zinfandel is richly perfumed with scents of black raspberry, apricot, and aromatic spices. Subtle tobacco flavors mingle with flavors of plum and cherry. Red and dark berries dominate the flavor, where they are joined by the typical Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel characters of vanilla, cherry, and sweet plum-like fruit. – Joel Peterson

This wine is a dark ruby color and fresh and spicy in nose, initial and even through the follow-through. The notes that are detected throught the nose and initial taste are spice, light fruit with lots of sunshine and slightly nutty. The follow through is easy and simple. There is not mouth coat and the throat feel is over quickly and leaves me yearning for more. This is a great Zinfandel and pairs well with a myriad of beef or porkchops. The meat should be lightly seasoned as the wine makes up for the difference.

This is a VERY young wine and needs to age a little while longer, but once it sat for about 30 minutes, the nose opened up and became tolerable.

a full bodied, deep wine filled with dark berries - blackberries, plums, currant, and spice with a more chocolate finish.
can certainly age but will go terrific with a big steak dinner

Deep, complex, floral and fungal. Rustic and full of plum and raisin, finishes with a hint of olive and dark chocolate.

Nose of bread and baking spice - lots of complexity. Delicate currants in the mouth with a well-integrated acidity but a gentile finish with hints of cocoa.

Thick and plummy with firm tannins. Nice blueberry highlights. Blackberry. Woodsy, truffle nose with some mushroom character. Very nice.

Dry and rugged in tannins, this Zin displays a complex array of wild berry, tobacco, cocoa and dusty Asian spice flavors. Ita s a little heavy in liqueur-type softness. Calls for barbecue, grilled beef, or even dark chocolate. 90 Points Wine Enthusiast
