Ravenswood Cab Vintners Blnd 2007
The 2007 Vintners Blend Cabernet Sauvignon is an accessible wine with flavorful fruit and balanced tannins. The nose shows hints of oak, baking spices, and black currant. Layers of supple blackberry and ripe cassis fruit balance moderate tannins, typical in Cabernet Sauvignon blends. The tannic structure and long, mouth-filling finish pair well with lamb burgers or spiced chicken skewers.
RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.
This is a very good and affordable Cabernet. Sure, I've had better ones, but they were three times the price. What's nice about the Ravenswood is that it has the texture and smokiness that one expects from a Cabernet Sauvignon, but it's nice quite as heavy and overpowering as others. I paid $7.99 for a bottle at a local wine store, had it with a Grilled Porterhouse and some portobellos and I was a happy man.
Ravenwood puts out some of the best wine at the best prices in my area. I enjoyed that Cab with beef braised in wine ( used a Chianti for that) and it was amazing. The rich fruity taste complemented the beef and sauce it was cooked in. I agree with jmd477 in that you can't find such a good wine at a great price.
this isn't fit for a king, but it's a damn fine chewy, cherry cab that's very affordable. it's always nice. i consider it the jim beam black (not white) of red wine. it doesn't strive to be more complex than it is. you'll find yourself thinking that it's really good wine for the price. it's the recession cab of choice.

Here's a value in an everyday Cab. It's balanced, dry and full-bodied, with ripe, dusty tannins, a kiss of toast oak, and good currant, plum and blackberry flavors. Earns an extra point for the long finish.
Winemaker Joel Peterson is famous for not only his skill at crafting fine wines, but also his ability to source fruit from outstanding vineyards. The quality of fruit in this wine is striking, especially on the palate. Dark currant, raspberry and a zippy black cherry edge deliver surprising structure and balance at this price range. A medium-bodied Cabernet with some real character, and a tasty bargain.
Sweet chocolate and blackberry flavors make for charming window dressing, supported by an underlying herbal quality and gutsy tannins. Drink now.
