Winemaker's Notes:

Wine Tasting Notes Our Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel is big and chewy with concentrated, explosive blackberry and cherry fruit flavors. The addition of Petite Sirah contributes black pepper spice. The mouthfeel is long and rich; with soft supple tannins matched with the sweet vanilla toast from the barrels.

Given to a 14-year-old boy in 1843, the 17,000 acre land in northern Sonoma County was originally farmland. Dubbed “Tzabaco Rancho” by its owner, it was the basis for Rancho Zabaco’s name and future success. Founder and winemaker Eric Cinnamon devotes his time to the land, producing only the wines that grow best in the area: Sauvignon Blanc and Zinfandel. Their land in the Russian River Valley is devoted to Sauvignon Blanc, while Dry Creek Valley, the “Zin Zone,” consistently produces world-class Zinfandel. Read less

This Dry Creek Reserve from Sonoma is always a pleasing zinfandel experience. Big, bold and the right balance of jammy and peppery/spicy.

On sale for $11.99 this is a great Zin but at its list price of 17.99 I don't know. It had a great pepper taste and plum hints as well.

The 2004 Zinfandel Monte Rosso Toreador is absolutely amazing and one of the great Zinfandels of that vintage. This wine boasts a dense ruby/purple color and a big, sweet nose of ground pepper, dried herbs, lavender, black cherry jam, raspberry, and licorice. Full-bodied, powerful, and concentrated, this stunning Zinfandel should drink well for up to a decade.

While openly fruity in aroma, with vivid cherry and plum notes, this turns supple midpalate before firming up on the finish. Ends with a complex mix of dark berry and fresh, earthy tannins. Drink now through 2010.
