This delicious Chardonnay manages to be light on its feet yet filled with rich citrus and mineral flavors and a crisp and precise feel in the mouth. Well balanced and easy on the palate, with a sense of purity and transparency that suggest it will age well.

Normally I see more stylistic differences between the Hudson and Hyde Chardonnays, but in 2008, they are more similar than usual. The 2008 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard reveals a fragrant bouquet of caramelized citrus, tropical fruits and subtle smoke as well as medium to full-bodied flavors, good acidity and a crisp mouthfeel. Drink it over the next 4-6 years.

Creamy-textured, with a mix of rich, smoky pear, fig, nectarine, honeysuckle and apricot, finishing with intensity and concentration and a pretty floral highlight. Drink now through 2007.

The 2002 Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard reveals beautiful fruit, an alluring minerality, crisp lemon oil, orange blossom, and honeysuckle characteristics, full body, and plenty of concentration.

Greenish yellow. Seductively perfumed aromas of Meyer lemon, green apple and quince, with strong notes of wet stone, iodine and white pepper. Positively Burgundian on the palate, offering deep, chewy citrus and orchard fruit flavors and iodine and dried flower nuances. The long finish strongly echoes the smoky mineral and floral notes.

The 2007 Chardonnay Hudson Vineyard's light gold color is followed by sumptuous aromas of buttered citrus, a distinctive spicy apple note, quince, hazelnut, and subtle oak. The wine is rich and full-bodied with admirable purity and length. Enjoy it over the next 3-4 years.

Distinctive for its display of earth, leaf, citrus, pear and fig flavors that are well-focused, with a feel of vibrancy and a tasty, minerally aftertaste. Drink now through 2006.

Winemaker's Notes:

Special Wine of the Month
Was $39.00 - Now $35.00!!

2007 Sonoma Coast

Our fifth release from this vineyard planted in 1999 by Richard Hyde and his son Rick, brother and nephew of Larry Hyde. Named Sonoma Stage, it is at the apex of Stage Gulch Road between Petaluma and Carneros-a quite cool and windy site. Also included is the second harvest from the Platt Vineyard as 46% of the blend. Planted to our specifications, with old Wente selected from Larry Hyde's vineyard, the Platt Vineyard sits 800 feet above the village of Bodega, with a south-facing exposition overlooking the Estero Americano.

Highlighted Reviews: 2007 Vintage

91 Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar May/June 09
Pale yellow. Pure, finely etched aromas of lemon, pink grapefruit, Anjou pear, tarragon and white pepper. Racy citrus and orchard fruit flavors are given depth by melon and candied licorice qualities, with dusty minerals adding grip. This wines light touch and finishing precision are impressive, and its balanced to age.

90 California Grapevine, Vol. 35, No. 3, June-July 2009
Medium-light golden yellow; attractive, herbal, earthy, spicy, lemony, ripe pear and green apple aroma; medium-full to full body; crisp, lemony, pear and green apple flavors; well balanced and structured; crisp finish; lingering aftertaste. Very highly recommended.
