External Reviews for Ramey Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
A stunning yet reasonably priced, high end Napa Cabernet Sauvignon is the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa. The final bottling from the extraordinary Larkmead Vineyard, it boasts a dense purple color as well as a big, sweet bouquet of blueberry and black... Robert Parkers Wine Advocate. A Cabernet Sauvignon wine from California in USA. 2007 Ramey Cabernet Sauvignon Napa 750ml
WA 92pts, IWC 92pts, WS 91pts - Winemaker Notes - Our third vintage of this appellation Cabernet, into which we declassified our final harvest from the Larkmead Vineyard at 37% of the blend. Other vineyards included were Somerston, 36%; Snowden, 15%; Lamoreaux, 7%; and DeSantis, 5%. Aging on the fine lees incorporates the oak so that the two years spent in half new barrels (a mixture of French and American) is barely noticeable. As with all of our wines, it was fermented with native yeasts and bacteria and bottled without filtration. This wine combines the harmony produced by traditional Bordelaise winemaking techniques with the voluptuousness of a great Napa Valley vintage. 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Malbec, 3% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc.
Ripe and fleshy, with plump black cherry, red plum, rose petal and cedary oak flavors that are elegant and refined, finishing with earthy tannins. Best from 2010 through 2015.
Opaque ruby. Red- and blackcurrant aromas, with suave floral, tobacco and spice character adding interest. Fleshy, liqueur-like dark berry flavors are soft and round, with no rough edges or obvious tannins. Turns slightly firmer on the long, velvety finish. Ramey told me that this has a pH of 4.0.
The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa exhibits a dense ruby/purple color as well as sweet, tarry, black currant, chocolate, cedar, and wood smoke-like flavors, and decent acidity. Drink it over the next 10ndash;15 years.
93-95 points Antonio Galloni (Wine Advocate): The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is a big, dramatic wine endowed with tremendous richness and power. A large-scaled, dramatic wine, the 2009 Cabernet sweeps across the palate with generous, deeply resonant fruit. This is shaping up to be another beauty from David Ramey. The 2009 is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Lamoreaux, DeSantis, J. Davies and Somerston. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2021. (Feb 2012)
