External Reviews for Ramey Claret Napa Valley
A dense, richly concentrated wine, with potent earth, blackberry, anise, sage and smoky tarry notes that fill out and keep a tight focus on a long, rich finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2011.
Good full ruby-red. Aromas of cassis, blueberry, roasted plum, melted chocolate, smoke and earth. Lush and silky, with chocolatey flavors showing an almost porty ripeness. Very broad but not overly sweet. Finishes with a wave of dusty tannins.
The 2002 Claret (59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot and 13% Cabernet Franc) boasts deep, cedary, black currant fruit, medium to full body, broad flavors, and a long, pure finish.
The seductive, dark plum/purple-colored 2002 Claret (3,500 cases) reveals a voluptuous texture along with wonderfully sweet notes of cedar, chocolate, black currants, raspberries, and roasted coffee in a succulent, opulent, full-bodied style that is hard to resist. Even the barrel sample could have been drunk with great pleasurehellip; Get on the bandwagon as David Ramey is on top of his game.
