What to Expect

California's Napa Valley has been a source of world-class Cabernet Sauvignon for well over a century. Its warm climate and varied terrain allows for many styles of wine. One thread that runs through almost all the Cabernet based wines from Napa is their lush, ripe full-bodied feel and rich flavors of currant and berry. Wines from the valley floor, particularly around Rutherford, are famed for a dusty quality and those coming from the hillsides surrounding the valley, Mt. Veeder, Diamond Mountain and Howell Mountain for example, tend to be a little leaner with more obvious structural elements.

This remarkable new 2005 ((83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot, and 8% Merlot) combines all the luscious, exotic fruit components of our very favorite Napa Cabernet with the perfectly balanced elegance of one of our favorite winemakers (Ramey!). This wine explodes onto the palate with lush, dense flavors combined with mouth-coating, plush tannins to guarantee a thrilling experience for many years to come! The new Ramey Larkmead features a supple texture with leafy tobacco flavors, rich oak, and beautifully ripe and rich blackberry and cassis flavors that gracefully glide read more...into black cherry and dark plum. This sumptuous Cabernet is young and bright, but serious and well balanced. Incredible finesse and polish with tantalizing caramel and licorice flavors in the front & mid palates that meld into toasty oak on the delightful finish lasting a full 30 seconds. Drink now (after decanting 1/2 hour) or anytime over the next 7 � 10 years.
