Raka Red Bordeaux Blend Walker Bay Quinary 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

All grapes were hand picked and sorted twice before a pure yeast culture was inoculated. The juice was pumped over the skins 3-5 times per day for 5 days. Once fermentation was complete, the wine was drained of the primary lees and transferred to a resting tank. Malolactic fermentation and a brief settling period preceded the wine to a combination of 225 liter French oak barrels.

Weingut: Raka Wine EstateLand: SüdafrikaRegion: Walker BayRebsorten: 62% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc, 3% Malbec, 3% Petit VerdotInhalt: 0,75 lAlkoholgehalt: 14,25 Vol.%Säuregehalt: 5,75 g/lRestsüße: 2,5 g/lFassreife: in Barriques gereift (12 Monate)Lagerfähigkeit:  3 - 5 Jahre ab Jahrgang Empfohlene Serviertemperatur:  16 - 18°CAuszeichnungen für den Raka Quinary:Michelangelo Silber Rotwein > Südafrika > Walker Bay

Tasting Notes:

The wine develops well in the glass bearing a fresh leafiness with ripe mulberry, loads of lush black berries with a touch of mint and smokey cigar box. It is well disciplined and structured by firm tannins, and nicely marries Classic and New World styling.

Once fermentation was complete, the wine was drained of the primary lees and transferred to a resting tank.
