Rainoldi Valtellina Rosso 2008
The last harvest, achieved from warmer vintages and with less rainfall, has certainly forced wine producers worldwide to reconsider some decisions that turned out to be successful in the past. Similarly, some areas which in the past were not considered to be highly suitable, achieved excellent performance both in vine growing and wine making: Nebbiolo is evident proof of this phenomenon which is a mix of freshness and balance,
I saw them crack open the bottle to give me a glass of this. It needed air and breathing space and then it exhibited sour black cherry, petrol, leather, lots of tannin, hints of spice. It had medium acidity and a decent (but not long) finish. There was a little asparagus in their as well. Don't laugh, but it had a hint of mac and cheese on the nose. I enjoyed it. It definitely needs to breathe though.
