What to Expect

California has long struggled with Pinot Noir. Finding the right vineyards for this most fickle of grape, one that enjoys a cool growing season yet needs warmth close to harvest to fully ripen, has proven a challenge in such a sunny state. Cooler areas eventually became identified; the Santa Rita Hills, Russian River Valley and Mendocino's Anderson valley are all prime spots for Pinot Noir in California. Unlike the lighter colored and sometimes delicate Pinots of Burgundy, California produces many rich, deep Pinots full of slightly chewy dark berry and cherry fruits with hints of cola, Asian spices and forest floor frequently adding complexity.

Winemakers Notes

The Radog Rosé is a soft and round rosé with bright flavors of watermelon, strawberry, and raspberry and a hint of peppery spices. Made as a saignée from Cedar Lane vineyard fruit, and we love this wine's color and concentration. The wine is fermented in neutral French oak barrels to create extra texture but retaining fresh fruit and acidity.Sugar: DryOak: none

Black tar and cranberries on the nose with a distinctive herbaceous quality. Bright, fresh, acidic palate ruled by bunches of red fruit, cranberries, leather, tire tracks, and earth. Not too much tannic structure on this one, as long as you can get past/if you like the bitterness it's pretty easy drinking. Doesn't really need food, but might benefit from some cheese nearby.

"One of the best Pinots under $30" a consumer recently told us, and we'd have to agree. Our latest Pinot Noir exhibits a lively nose of cranberry, earth, and strawberry on top of a nice sprinkling of French oak base. Great acidity lifts the fruit on the palate, too, keeping our Pinot balanced on a perfect wave of texture and structure. Perfect for drinking now.

Staff Selection! ""A great food wine. Good earth and mushroom components pair with generous but balanced fruit and palate cleansing acidity.
