Rabbit Ridge Vineyards Rabbit Ridge Paso Robles Syrah 2005

Winemaker's Notes:

Syrah-Sirah is from our west side Live oak Road vineyard and highlights the distinct characteristics of grapes grown in a cooler climate containing limestone soil. This vineyard is one of the highest in Paso Robles, located at 1,600 feet elevation. In addition, this vineyard has large amounts of limestone in the soil with an average soil pH of approximately 8. From the Live oak vineyard come three different clones of Syrah; Estrella, Tablas Creek and Entav 877. These vines are planted in three distinctly different locations within the vineyard and the fruit ripens as much as three weeks apart. We have blended two of our darkest and most full-bodied wines to create our Paso Robles Syrah-Sirah. This wine was aged for approximately 15 months in 100% new American oak.

Rabbit Ridge Winery & Vineyards:
All of our vineyards in Paso Robles are located on the west side of highway 101. Erich believes this area of limited water, shallow, rugged, rocky, calcareous soils will produce some of the finest wines in Paso Robles, and among the finest in California. Erich planted his vineyards precisely throughout the Paso Robles appellation to take advantage of the unique micro climates and soil characteristics that would best suit each grape variety.
